The Wall Crawler has had a marvelous few franchises over the last few years. We’ve got to watch Tom Holland grow up on screen fighting all types of wars, whether that’s a Civil War or Infinity War. We saw Andrew Garfield take on the Lizard, Electro, and a Rhino that looked an awful lot like Paul Giamatti. Heck we’ve even seen a Spider-Pig voiced by John Mulaney!
With Venom Let There Be Carnage expanding the Sony Pictures Universe Of Marvel Characters, we have high hopes that the Spider-Verse will finally tie into the Marvel Cinematic Universe. With No Way Home swinging into theatres soon, we are excited to see Green Goblin, Doctor Octopus, and Sandman return from the Sam Raimi universe. That’s right, today we will be travelling to a simpler time. An era before Captain America picked up Thor’s hammer, when Doctor Strange was but a name J.Jonah Jameson wanted to give someone else. A trio of films that was filled with characters so memorable that the current slate of Spidey films depend on them.
But why are these characters so special? What work went into the menacing costume that Willem Dafoe dawned? How exactly were Doc Ock’s tentacles produced via puppetry? How exactly did famous movie monsters like King Kong and Frankenstein’s Monster inform Thomas Haden Church on playing the true Uncle Ben killer? Plenty of questions that we will be getting into!
So rub that dirt out of your eyes and get ready for a whole web of knowledge following the history of this movie and how some previous failed attempts at launching the franchise by Tobe Hooper (Texas Chainsaw Massacre, Poltergeist, Spontaneous Combustion) and James Cameron (Terminator, Aliens, Avatar) lead to the natural web shooting franchise that we all know and love.
