Everyone knows that a spider produces a web to trap its food. Like the video and let’s understand how this spider produces the silk thread used to create a web.
A kind of thread is produced at the tip of the abdomen of the spider to create a web. Spigots, a kind of tiny nozzle-like structure are present on these spinnerets.
In order to produce a web, spiders release a white-colored liquid protein from their silk glands through spigots. This liquid protein gets converted to solid on coming in contact with air. Spinnerets continuously keep converting this protein coming out from spigots into silk thread. The strong silk thread spun by spinnerets is then used to create a web to trap the prey.
Because of this knitting art of spiders, they are known to be one of the best natural architects in the world. This whole process of creating the web takes a lot of energy and is a time-consuming process, and it doesn’t remain effective after a while, so some spiders like to get their food by chasing the prey.
