Two playwritghts (Dudley Moore and Mary Steenburgen), as they will, meet. They decide to collaborate–romance blooms and sputters. They continue to work together and marry–but not to each other. She marries Ron Leibman; he marries Janet Eilber. Although married to other people, their writing collaboration flourishes. (Well, not entirely; there are some flops–like a horrendous adaptation of “The Dollhouse.”) Moore is still in love with Steenburgen. But he stifles his feelings–for “art.” A good choice?
